The Chevy Tahoe Streamlined for Full-Size SUV Domination

Redesigned for the 2021 model year, the Chevy Tahoe continues to be a top-level choice in the full-size SUV category for many Langhorne, PA drivers. It is perfect for those who need lots of interior space, a powerful engine for top-shelf acceleration ability, and a decent list of tech and safety features.

Performance

The base engine-a 5.3-liter V8 engine with 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque-delivers gobs of power to pull a vehicle as large as the 2021 Chevy Tahoe along. You can, however, upgrade to the top-level High Country for even more engine power courtesy of a larger, 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Each engine is strapped to a 10-speed automatic transmission for a smooth-shifting experience.

Rear-wheel drive is standard to send engine power to the rear with the V8 in front for a balanced front-to-rear weight distribution. For better performance on rough, bumpy, or slippery terrain, however, go for the optional four-wheel-drive system, which is standard on the performance-optimized Z71. When properly equipped, the Tahoe can tow up to 8,400 pounds.

Interior & Exterior

Riding on 18-inch aluminum wheels, the 2021 Tahoe makes it easy to get in and get out thanks to black-finished assist steps. LED headlights and taillights provide bright and long-lasting illumination, upper active aero shutters help keep the engine compartment at an ideal operating temperature, and heated power side mirrors flank the front doors. At the LT trim level, the liftgate has hands-free power, and the RST gains roof-mounted side rails. The performance-oriented Z71 gets larger, 20-inch aluminum wheels, which are replaced by 22-inch ones at the High Country level.

A three-row vehicle, the Tahoe nevertheless varies by maximum occupancy depending on trim level. The LS is the only one that offers a nine-seating capacity, with other trims providing choices between seven- and eight-seating configurations. Cloth upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 10-way power-adjustable driver seat, and an eight-way power-adjustable front passenger seat are standard.

Front-seat heating, leather upholstery, 12-way power adjustability on the front seats, and driver-seat memory appear at the LT trim level. The Premier gains an automatic heated steering wheel, second-row heating, front-seat ventilation, and perforated leather upholstery. Only the High Country has a power-release ability on the second-row seats to make it easier to get to the third row.

Standard Equipment

At the base level, the 2021 Tahoe relies on the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus multimedia system for infotainment. This system combines a six-speaker AM/FM stereo system, HD Radio, Bluetooth, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, voice-activated technology, a total of six USB ports, an SD card reader, and a 10.2-inch touchscreen.

A 4.2-inch screen displays vital driver information, and the tri-zone automatic climate control system consists of controls for the driver, front passenger, and rear-seat passengers. Proximity keyless entry with push-button engine start enables access with a key fob and starting the car without an ignition key. You can even start the vehicle before you get to it whever you are in Camden, NJ, thanks to the remote start feature.

A nine-speaker Bose stereo system (instead of the six-speaker setup), a garage-door opener, and wireless phone charging appear at the LT trim level. The Premier and High Country gains an 8-inch driver information display (in place of the 4.2-inch), a navigation system, and auto-dimming ability on the rearview mirror

Safety

For driver assistance, the 2021 Chevy Tahoe combines a forward distance indicator, automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert with pedestrian braking, an HD rearview camera with rear parking sensors, and cruise control.

Front parking sensors join the rear parking ones at the Premier level to make the rearview camera more effective. The High County represents the Tahoe’s driver-assist peak: with an HD surround-vision camera (in place of the rearview one), a rear camera mirror, lane change alert with side blind zone alert, lane-keep assist with lane departure warning, and a 15-inch head-up display to reduce on-the-road distractions.
